  Lakshmi\, the deity of wealth and prosperity. Families gather to pray\, s
 hare lavish feasts\, exchange sweets\, burst fireworks\, and wear their fi
 nest clothes. It also marks the beginning of a financial new year for many
  Indian businesses.
